Real Life Center Mobile Food Pantry

Each month we team up with other area churches and the Real Life Center and participate in the Mobile Food Pantry.  At the mobile food pantry we unload a food distribution truck from the Atlanta Food Bank and sort the food into stations.  Residents in Fayette County who are in need drive from station to station while we place food in their car and talk to them a little bit at each station.  At the end of the day we take down the stations and return the space to a normal parking lot.

The Mobile Food Pantry is held at Grace Evangelical Church on Flat Creek Trail.

  • Several cans of vegetables
  • Boxed dessert

Coweta Pregnancy Center

Coweta Pregnancy Center in Newnan, Georgia is a non-profit, Christian-based organization serving women and men of all ages, who are unprepared for pregnancy. Word of God supports them in a number of ways including donations of diapers, clothing, baby wipes and hygiene products. A small team of individuals purchase these items and deliver them to the center in Newnan.

Our congregation is also involved in their annual Baby Bottle Fundraiser campaign.  Between Mother's Day and Father's Day congregation members fill baby bottles with coins. After Father's Day the bottles are collected and delivered to the center. The Word of God congregation typically donates over $1000 in “loose change.”

Healing Bridge Clinic
Healing Bridge Clinic

The Healing Bridge Clinic's mission is to care for the residents of Fayette and surrounding counties providing free health care to those who would otherwise be unable to afford these medical services.

Word of God provides quarterly meals for health providers every third month on the 3rd Thursday.  Word of God also supplies the clinic with medical supplies which are usually in the form of diabetic strips.  We are blessed to be able to support such a wonderful organization helping those in need.

Angel's House
Angel's House

Angel's House opened it's door on June 21, 2004 to provide a safe home for children who had no other place to go.  They currently provide for 10-15 teenage girls every day.  They are located in Newnan, GA so most girls are from Coweta county but they do have girls from outside Coweta too.  Per the Angel's House website: "Angel’s House is a group foster home for teen girls in DFCS custody.  Some are removed from their homes because of abuse, neglect or risky behaviors. Others are transitioning between foster homes, or are faced with other circumstances that require immediate assistance. The girls who come through our doors receive the shelter, structure, and care they need to maximize their potential for success. Whether they stay for a night, a month or several years, thanks to your help we are able to secure their safety and well-being by providing a sense of family that lasts a lifetime."  Word of God provides miscellanous items to the kids for camp in the summer or supplies during the school year.

ASAP Empowers (Tools for Empowerment)

ASAP - Tools For Empowerment in Newnan, GA is an organization that provides tools for people in Haiti, Dominican Republic and El Salvador to learn a trade, have the tools and become self-reliant. Their mission is to provide tools and knowledge that endure for a lifetime, including vocational, agricultural, small business and savings groups training.  The specific areas of training include Auto Mechanics, Carpentry, Electrical, Masonry and Plumbing.   They take your unwanted tools, lumber and plywood; then volunteers refurbish the tool donations; volunteer carpenters build wooden tool crates; refurbished tools are packed into crates and sorted by trade and then shipped. We provided monetary help as well as helping prep tools during our VBS program.

These pictures are from WoG Vacation Bible School where the attendees (special needs young adults) helped oil the tools, wrap them in newspaper and put into boxes to be shipped.
