2019 First YOUTH Connect, Sept. 8, 2019 In July, the youth served the homeless at the soup kitchen two mornings . They prepared cups with utensils and napkins and set up to serve milk to the guests. They filled 150 plates with soup, bread and desserts then served these to the homeless as they entered the soup kitchen. The guests were very excited to have milk and to have the youth interact with them. A stop at The Varsity for lunch on the way home is always an extra bonus.

The Word of God youth were very involved in giving back throughout the year. In November, 2018 the youth spent a Sunday evening packing 150 backpacks for distribution at Redeemer Soup Kitchen. The youth filled the backpacks with toiletries, socks, Tupperware, razors, combs, hats, gloves, toothbrushes and washcloths. They also enjoyed a bonfire and s’mores during breaks while packing bags. These backpacks were distributed to the homeless at Redeemer Soup Kitchen in January. |
